Three Elements
TAKT Time
TAKT Time = Time Available ÷ Customer Demand
Work Sequence
The order of operations in which a worker carries objects, mounts them on machines, and removes them, etc. This should be distinguished by the “Processing Sequence” according to which a product is made.
Standard Work-In-Process< (W.I.P.)
Refers to the minimum W.I.P. needed to perform repetitive
operations (parts mounted on machines, parts on conveyors,
parts needing time to cure, etc.)

Takt Time
TAKT Time = Time Available ÷ Daily Customer Demand &multiply;
Time Available per Day:
One 8-Hr Shift = 480 min
2 Shifts per Day = 480 x 2 = 960 min
In Seconds = 960 x 60 = 57,600 sec
Sales per Day:
457 units.
TAKT Time: 57,600 sec/day ÷ 457 units/day = 126 sec/unit
Working to Takt Time is Fundamental to Lean Mfg

W.I.P.
Work-In-Process is the minimum number of unfinished work pieces needed to complete the process.
We may need to increase W.I.P. – For Example
Parts need to cool down
Machine cycles automatically
